I know Himaruya-sensei's kind of made a rough sketch of how the Philippines would look like if she were a Hetalia character, but I wanted to join the band of people who've made their versions as well. :0

The Uniform
Is dark green because, well... It's the color of our present military uniform. I know it's a pretty typical color, but if I'd used brown to link her to Spain and America, it would look a little monochromatic, judging by how we are called a brown race.

Her hair is in a bun because it was the traditional way Filipino women wore their hair during the Spanish occupation.

The red kerchief around her neck alludes to the usual way the Katipuneros are described wearing.

The bolo is her weapon, and had been used as a hunting device since the early ages, even before Spain-niichan set foot here.

Her injured leg represents the ongoing Muslim liberation wars in the island of Mindanao. I read Hetalia characters get sick when they are experiencing crises, so I gave Firipin-tan an injured leg. It makes sense, doesn't it?

I've always imagined her personality to be spunky and somewhat annoying, ditzy, and kind of like Romano and Sealand, maybe? merged into one. She's like Spain's little sister with an identity crisis- she revolts for freedom in search of her own identity, yet at the same time kind of wanting to be like America. _{Let's just admit it.} Ah, and she can be a little gullible at times too. She is, however, very free-spirited and optimistic. Typhoons are no problem for her. ^^

I really want to draw a picture of her with Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. They could be like the Baltics of Southeast Asia. What genders do you guys think they should have?

I'm currently doing another drawing of her, this time not in chibi form and in her traditional baro't-saya.
